Flu Vaccine Controversy
Is the flu vaccine a life-saving wonder of modern medicine, the only way of preventing the deaths of tens of thousands and reducing the misery of millions each and every year?
Is it a tool of government-sponsored medical tyranny that lines the pockets of big Pharma while concurrently causing brain damage to small children, poisoning the masses, and possibly even causing flu pandemics?
If you want to make people uncomfortable, bring up your opinion on the flu vaccine. No matter your stance, you are likely to find someone with strong views that oppose yours, and lively discourse is sure to follow.
Western medical authorities including the CDC and more likely than not, your own family doctor, are firm advocates of the flu vaccine. Most everyone in the Western medical field believes the flu vaccine to be crucial in the health and wellness of both individuals and our population as a whole during flu season.
Meanwhile, most of the natural health world sees the flu vaccine as an expensive, potentially hazardous, and even fundamentally ineffective means to keeping people well.
Who should we believe? Who is right?
I don’t have all the answers, but take a look at the Top Five Red Flags with the Flu Vaccine:
Flu Vaccine Red Flags
Red Flag #1 — The CDC has stated that “annual influenza vaccination is the most effective method for preventing influenza virus infection and its complications.”
But what else has the CDC tested for its effect on preventing the flu? How is it possible for something to be the “most effective” way to do anything when it is the only thing being considered?
This is like saying that eating Cocoa Krispies for breakfast each morning is the healthiest way to start your day, showing a bunch of studies showing that people who eat Cocoa Krispies every morning have x amount of energy and stamina throughout the day, but not comparing it to anything else such as scrambled eggs or fresh fruit smoothies.
It should be illegal for the CDC to claim that the flu shot is the “most effective” means of preventing the flu. This is pure deception.
Red Flag #2 –The very people most susceptible to complications from the flu — the elderly and very young children — are the very people who don’t respond as well to the flu vaccine.
Flu vaccine efficacy studies show that those with weakened or underdeveloped immune systems don’t react as strongly to the flu vaccine, and may not launch a strong enough immune response to it.
One recent study found that “in children under 2 years inactivated vaccines had the same field efficacy as placebo.” Children often have to get multiple flu shots in any given season (along with multiple exposures to the flu vaccine’s toxic adjuvants, which often include thimerosal — a mercury derivative) to launch a proper response, or use vaccines with live flu vaccine that can actually infect those around them with the flu.
Authorities have claimed that getting the flu vaccine helps reduce death among the elderly by as much as 50%, but some researchers have pointed out that this is impossible since flu kills only 10% of the elderly population. Some researchers further maintain that many studies on flu vaccine effectiveness among the elderly are highly flawed.
This year the CDC is coming out with a special type of flu vaccine for the elderly that is designed to increase the immune response. Let’s hope this super-powered vaccine doesn’t come with super-powered adverse reactions.
Red Flag #3 – This year, the CDC has recommended that all Americans over the age of 6 months now need the flu vaccine (in previous years healthy adults were exempt). But is such a recommendation backed by solid research?
A recent study compiling data from 50 flu vaccine studies with tens of thousands of subjects found that only 1-3 healthy adults out of 100 gain any benefit from the flu vaccine. Further, the authors of this study point out that this statistic is biased in favor of vaccines, as over half of the studies they looked at were funded by the vaccine industry.
Red Flag #4 — The CDC and WHO have repeatedly touted the safety of the flu vaccine, saying that the adverse effects are minimal and not life-threatening. The CDC has poo-pooed anecdotal claims of miscarriage, sudden death, and any long-term risks associated with the vaccine (even though their own studies show that one of the potential adverse effects is Guillain-Barre syndrome — a serious neurological disorder involving paralysis.)
I have searched and never found any safety studies that look for adverse reactions beyond 2 weeks of taking the flu vaccine (if there are such studies, please correct me and send me a link) .
To me, it is incredible that nobody has taken the time to track any potential long-term adverse reactions associated with this vaccine, especially when there is ample evidence that some people are, in fact, harmed. And it is deception to tell the public that a vaccine is “safe” without really doing the long-term research, as is required for drugs.
Red Flag #5 — In a few nations around the world, governments have banned or at least temporarily halted administering the flu vaccine or swine flu vaccine due to severe adverse reactions — some of them immediate and others more long-term. Earlier this year after several children suffered from severe fever, nausea, vomiting, convulsions, and seizures within hours or days of receiving a flu shot, Australia banned the vaccine until further notice.
Finland has recently banned the swine flu vaccine due to a sharp increase in the rate of narcolepsy amongst young people who received the vaccine. Six cases of narcolepsy were confirmed to have developed after the individuals received the swine flu vaccine, and nine other cases are currently under investigation.
If the flu vaccine was the only available means to protect people from the flu, and if it was actually 30% effective against flu-like illness as health authorities claim, then one might consider that risking adverse reactions including convulsions, narcolepsy, or Guillain-Barre Syndrome would be worth it.
But it isn’t. Not even close.
Natural Solutions for Flu & Flu-Like Illness
Unlike vaccines that can only protect from 3 strains of flu in any given year (while there are well over 200 viruses that cause flu or flu-like illness), these sound solutions — my personal favorites among many — will help to naturally boost your immune system and keep you healthy during cold and flu season:
Solution #1 — A healthy lifestyle. Adequate rest, a healthy diet, exercise, plenty of pure water, fresh air, some sunshine, positive attitude, and maintaining healthy relationships are ESSENTIAL to helping each of us naturally fight off pathogens including flu viruses.
Proper sanitation (including frequent hand-washing and covering the mouth when sneezing or coughing) is also important here.
Solution #2 — Adequate Vitamin D. Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for a healthy immune system. 15 minutes per day of direct sunlight on as much of our skin as possible is the best way to ensure adequate Vitamin D levels. When this is not possible due to weather, supplementing with Vitamin D is crucial. It is postulated that cold and flu circulate much more freely in the winter because of diminished sunlight and therefore Vitamin D blood levels.
Solution #3 – Essential Oils. Unlike pharmaceutical drugs including antibiotics, it is very difficult for viruses and bacteria to build a resistance to essential oils.
Thieves is my favorite anti-viral and antibacterial essential oil. It can help prevent cold, flu, and flu-like illness as well as help speed recovery time exponentially.
Rub a drop or two on the feet or armpits (or both) 1-2x/day as a preventive measure. Diffuse with a cold air diffuser to kill airborne pathogens. Take a couple of drops internally at the first sign of cold or flu (either in a glass of water, directly on the tongue — not recommended for children, or in homemade capsules diluted with olive oil).
Lemon oil is great to soothe a sore throat and gently strengthen the immune system.
Drink daily in your water. Take several drops directly in the mouth and swallow to prevent or help with a sore throat. Make a honey-lemon tea with lemon oil.
Frankincense is fantastic for breaking up respiratory congestion, as well as building the immune system.
For congestion in the lungs or bronchi, apply a few drops of frankincense to the chest then do apply a hot pack — a hot wet washcloth followed by layer of saran wrap, then a towel. This drives the frankincense deep into the chest and dramatically increases its effectiveness. Frankincense may also be inhaled or diffused.
Peppermint oil is perfect for a wide variety of uses during cold and flu season. It will clear the sinuses, get rid of nausea, soothe digestion, reduce a fever, and help get rid of headaches.
Solution #4 — Homeopathic flu remedies. The homeopathy Oscillococcinum has an impressive track record in helping prevent full-fledged flu when taken right at the first sign of illness, or shortening the duration of flu. In many nations in Europe, Oscillococcinum is prescribed by doctors for flu.
Oscillococcinum can be purchased at most health food stores.
Solution #5 – NingXia Red. This remarkable nutrient infusion is naturally high in a multitude of vitamins and minerals, and is off the chart with its levels of flu-busting antioxidants.
Drink 1 oz. or more per day to protect the body from illness. If you have been exposed to a cold or flu, drink at least 3 oz. per day (or as much as feels good to you).
If You Decide To Get the Flu Vaccine (or are compelled to because of your job) –
Make sure you are healthy the day you are vaccinated. Request a single-dose vaccine (multi-dose flu vaccines have thimerosal, a mercury derivative in them as a preservative) and don’t get the flumist inhaler vaccine, which is made with live influenza viruses and carries the risk of the individual spreading the flu to other people for up to 21 days.
Go home and start using Vaccin-Tox homeopathic tincture immediately — 30 drops 2x/daily in a glass of water.
Detoxify in any number of other ways — soak in a detoxifying bath, eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (including cilantro if you get the multi-dose vaccine), and practice oil pulling (with Purification essential oil for enhanced results).
