Pressure Points for Health

acupressure1 Essential Skill Sets for Medical Preparedness, Part 2 Acupressure

More and more, people are becoming aware of the need for medical preparedness.  As Greece’s economy is collapsing, we are given a stark glimpse into a society with a crumbling healthcare system as drugs are scarce, doctors and nurses go without pay, and the majority of people are left to deal with their health problems on their own.

For 2 1/2 years I have been empowering people to handle their own health with essential oils.  Last week I wrote an article on basic reflexology as an important (and EASY) skill-set to have in your tool-belt for medical preparedness.  This week, I would like to share my experiences with another powerful healing modality that ANYONE can begin to learn and get results with — acupressure!

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a part of the system of Chinese medicine that has been practiced and perfected there for over 5,000 years.  The Chinese found that there are energy pathways in the body (called meridians), and disease and pain are caused by blockage in these energy pathways.

Acupressure involves medium to firm pressure applied with the thumb or forefinger to points along those meridians, releasing blockage and helping the body to heal itself.  Unlike acupuncture, its close relative, acupressure doesn’t involve needles.

Acupressure is documented to help with such things as headaches, back pain, shoulder pain, menstrual problems, allergies, digestive issues, stress, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, and more.

My Experience with Acupressure

I first got started with acupressure in 2008 when I attended a workshop taught by Lilian Tibshraeny-Morten integrating it with reflexology.  I fell in love with this modality as I began to see how even a basic knowledge of acupressure was helping me help my clients feel better.

The next best thing to me demonstrating acupressure on you personally is showing you how to do a mini stress-relief acupressure session on yourself.

I am working on a brand new book, the Essential Survival Complete Guide to Medical Preparedness, and am planning on including how to use acupressure (along with essential oils, basic reflexology, basic medic skills, and more) for such things as:

  • Heart attack,
  • Stroke,
  • Labor & delivery,
  • Digestive issues,
  • Back pain,
  • Pain from injury,
  • Stress,
  • Fatigue,
  • Insomnia
  • And more!!

Please comment to tell me what you think!

I understand you once lived in Tallahassee. I’m a prepper and live in the Greensboro area. I need a good comprehensive reference book about how to use essential oils and herbs when there is no medical treatment or medication available. I need to know how to make balms, tissanes, tincures, etc. I especially need to know what the recipes are for combining ingredients and what supportive ingredients I should stock up on. I’ve used your oils and suggestions many times and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Hi Kay — I am happy to tell you that the “Essential Survival Complete Guide to Medical Preparedness” will absolutely include information on using herbs, and I will be collaborating with a Master Herbalist to bring my readers all of that important information on using herbs. Stay tuned! – Julie =)
