Mold is a fungus of which there are many species, and flourishes in damp and often dark locations. Molds help to break down decomposing organisms, and play an important role in the wild in doing so. Mold spreads through airborne spores, and can be found in the air everywhere, in the soil, and on plants.
But having a mold infestation in your home can lead not only to unsightly black or green slime growing in damp nooks and crannies, but it can also lead to a wide variety of health problems, some of which are quite serious.

Health Complications Associated With Mold
Mold causes health problems by causing infectious, allergic, toxic, or hypersensitivity responses in the human organism. Here are some of the issues associated with mold:
Respiratory problems – Allergies, asthma, bleeding lungs, breathing difficulties, chronic coughing, coughing up with blood, runny nose (rhinitis) or thick, green slime coming out of nose (from sinus cavities), sinus congestion, sinus problems, and chronic sinusitis, hemorrhagic pneumonitis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis;
Central nervous system problems – Learning difficulties or mental dysfunction or personality changes, memory loss or memory difficulties, vertigo (feelings of dizziness, light-headedness, faintness and unsteadiness), tremors (shaking), verbal dysfunction (trouble in speaking), seizures, irritability, depression;
Immune system problems – Recurring colds, fatigue (chronic, excessive, or continued) and/or general malaise, flu symptoms (chronic), cancer, sneezing fits, sore throat;
Skin problems — Dandruff problems (chronic) that do not go away despite use of anti-dandruff shampoos, dermatitis, skin rashes, itching (of the nose, mouth, eyes, throat, skin or any other area), open skin sores and lacerations, hives, skin redness;
Other – Eye and vision problems, redness of the sclera (white of your eyes), sudden hair loss, headaches, kidney failure, sleep disorders, vomiting, diarrhea.

In 
2005, Dr. Edward Close, PhD — a mold remediation expert with 30 years of experience– discovered the Thieves essential oil blend to be more effective than any other agent he had ever encountered to eradicate mold. Dr. Close’s Proven Steps to Eliminate Mold
1. Diffuse Thieves essential oil regularly, clean your home with Thieves cleaner.
2. If you see mold in your home, get it sampled and tested.
3. Diffuse Thieves for 24-72 hours strait, all doors and windows closed.
4. Repair any leaks, eliminate source of moisture contributing to the mold growth.
5. If it turns out there are no toxic molds in your home, clean all moldy areas with the Thieves cleaner undiluted.
6. If toxic molds are detected, you will need to hire a professional to remove and repair all badly damaged areas.
7. Sample again for mold. Repeat steps 1-6 as needed.
